Women’s Ministry FBC 2021

What is the purpose of women’s ministry?

  1. To study God’s Word.

“All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man (and woman!) of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” 2Tim.3:16-17

  1. To provide opportunities to serve.

“As each one has received a gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” 1Pet.4:10

  1. To provide a biblically sound support system through discipleship and mentoring

“For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion.  But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up.” Ecc.4:10

“Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips not enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.” Tit.2:3-5

  1. To provide social networking to build one another up.

“and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” Heb.10:24-25

Ideas for Women’s Ministry

  • Create a Hospitality Team to organize meals for the sick/new babies/funerals, baby showers, jail cakes, phone calls to check on absent members, etc
  • Organizing a women’s Sunday school class
  • Having a once a month luncheon (or dinner or breakfast!) to go over ministry business and work through a curriculum or do book study, And to eat food, because, well… food. =)
  • Having a mother/daughter retreat in the spring
  • Doing outreach with Right to Life and/or the pregnancy center
  • Organizing church wide potlucks, perhaps quarterly?
  • Secret Pals (drawing another woman’s name to be your pal for the year that you serve secretly in small ways once a month)
  • Possible date for a ministry kickoff luncheon Sat. Dec.5th to vote on ideas, form a mission statement and implement a plan to get started in January!

What we need from you!

  • In what areas of ministry do feel led to serve?  In what areas can others serve you?
  • What days and times are easiest for you to make a commitment?
  • Will you need childcare? If so, for how many and what ages? Do you have an older child that can provide childcare?
  • Do any of these ministry ideas sound great to you? Awesome! Let me know which ones. Do any of these ministry ideas stink and you have better ones? Awesome! Let me know!

Please send thoughts, suggestions, and ideas to me at allymarie4c@gmail.com by the end of November with subject line “women’s ministry”. Thank you!! Looking forward to hearing all your great ideas!
