Re-opening Announcement and Policy
May 13, 2020, 4:46 PM

Dear Church,

As a leadership team, we are excited to announce that we will be open for services on Sunday, May 17. As we reopen, it is important that we be prayerful and wise. Below is a list of some items that will be crucial for us as we move into Phase 1 of reopening the church. It is important that everyone pays attention to each of these points. If you have any questions be sure to call pastor Dave at 785-341-9260, send him a message on Facebook, or email him at dvbj66531@yahoo.com You can also contact Wes Rash chairman of deacons by phone at (417) 209-5710 or email him at wrash80@gmail.com.

It is crucial that our church pays attention to this list so that we are following the state and local guidelines for reopening. We must remember that we all are called to do the best we can to protect one another and keep each other healthy.

  • We will begin by opening only for our 11 AM Sunday morning worship service.

  • We will practice social distancing by blocking off every other pew.

  • We ask that families sit by only those from their own household.

  • We will not be passing the offering plate, but there will be offering plates available as you enter the church and at the front of the sanctuary.

  • We ask that everyone refrains from handshakes and hugs while in the sanctuary.

  • We will only be using the main entrance of the church during phase 1 of reopening. The side entrances and the kitchen entrance will be locked from the inside. Please enter and exit through the North entrance to the church.

  • As you make your way to the door of the sanctuary the doors will be propped open. Please be sure to give other families space as they enter the church.

  • We will not have printed bulletins. Bulletins will be available on the church website. Everyone will receive an email link or text link Sunday morning for the bulletin.

  • We ask that everyone use the restroom before they come to worship. We ask that the restroom at the North entrance be the only one in the church used at this time. This will help us maintain a clean environment and do so efficiently.

  • If you are not feeling well, then we ask that you refrain from coming to worship so that you can protect others.

  • We ask that families with children be sure to discuss this policy with your children.

  • We also ask that parents with children help children maintain social distancing. We realize that this will be hard, but we do not want to put any of the individuals who are at worship at risk.

  • If you are in a high-risk category, then we invite you to not feel pressured into coming to worship and seriously consider refraining from joining us for another few weeks.

  • If you do not feel comfortable coming to worship, then be sure to continue to join us on Facebook live until you feel comfortable.

  • We are all excited to get back together, but we ask that any extended social contact be done outside rather than in the church.

This is the first phase in what will be a progression towards returning to our normal pattern of worship. While this is not ideal, this is a temporary measure. The leadership team asks that you be considerate of everyone and their various levels of comfort as we continue to deal with the pandemic. There are some individuals who are very afraid at this time. There are other individuals who are not afraid now and have never been afraid about the situation. As a church family, it is important that each of us respect where others are in their level of comfort as we reopen.

Thank you,
