Dear Church,

Last year I was encouraged to bring more missionaries to come speak at FBC Buffalo. This request from members and the Personnel Committee is a request I am glad to comply with, but I have struggled to know how to fulfill this request. I have wrestled with how to comply with the request in a biblical, God-honoring, and edifying way. I have prayed about this because I have really never had a church tell me to bring more missionaries to come speak. Why?

I have prayed about how to go about understanding this request and fulfill this request. But again, why are members of the Church asking me to bring missionaries to come to speak?

There are two reasons I believe direct this request for missionaries to come and share:

1. Our Church is hungry to hear about how the gospel is going out and how they can partner with this more directly.

2. We want to be inspired ourselves to serve.

I have prayed about who to invite to come to speak. I have looked for connections that I have directly with missionaries. Last week, I was invited to speak at Northern Hills Baptist Church (the Church where Johan Hayashi is pastor) during a Good Friday Service. While I was there that I met Jaron Rodgers.

In a short time, I connected with Jaron, and I was significantly encouraged by his desire to expand the Kingdom of Christ. Jaron and I have numerous mutual friends. Due to our mutual contacts and connections, Jaron and I discussed the potential for him to preach at FBC Buffalo. I didn’t know when he might come, but I wanted him to challenge our Church regarding missions.

On Monday, Jaron shared that he would be in Springfield this weekend and wanted to know if this Sunday morning would work for him to come to preach. I know this is short notice, but I did not want to pass up the opportunity to host another Church's missionary. Jaron and Nicki are actively taking the gospel to remote places. I could not for a second pass up the chance to get Jaron and Nicki here.

So here is a little bit about them:

"Hello! We are Jaron and Nicki Rogers, church planting missionaries in Nicaragua. Our family was approved as Career Baptist Bible Fellowship missionaries in May 2015. Before that, we served an internship as TEAM (associate) missionaries in Carazo, Nicaragua, with Jaron's parents, Jason & Tammy Rogers, from 2013 to 2015. Jaron is a Baptist Bible College graduate, Springfield, MO, majoring in missions; he is currently an MDiv student at Southern Seminary in the online Hispanic program. Nicki has completed her training in missions from Louisiana Baptist University; she also is a licensed dental hygienist. Our sending church is First Baptist Church, Webster, TX. We have four children: Noelia, Evalie, Minnie, and Jack!"

Jaron will preach during our morning worship service this Sunday (April 11). Before he comes, I want to challenge you to consider what you might do to support him and his wife's call to missions.

Pastor Dave
